Oil-Free Baked Kachori Recipe

If you are looking for some snack which should be oil-free, and you also don’t want to compromise on the taste, then this oil-free baked kachori is an Ideal choice for you. It is baked in an oven rather than deep-fry in oil or ghee. 

Stuffing for these kachoris are made with urad dal powder and the outer layer is made with Gram wheat flour. This easy to make snack takes around 2 hours to make.

Ingredient Required:-
  • Urad Dal Powder - 50 Gms
  • Red Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
  • Dhaniya Powder - 6 Tsp
  • Fennel Powder - 4 Tsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - ¼ Tsp
  • Yeast - 1 Tsp
  • Gram Wheat Flour - 250 Gms
  • Sugar - 2 Tsp
  • Water - Required for Dough
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Oil - 1-2 Tsp

The Process to Make Baked Kachori:-

For Filling:-

1) First, take a bowl and add urad dal powder into it. Then mix it well while adding water continuously (Add water proportionally). Then keep it aside for around 30 minutes until it swells and dries.

2) After 30 minutes add all the masala ingredients like red chilli powder, dhania powder, fennel seeds, Hing and salt. Mix them well and make it soft using warm water.

For Kachoris:-

1) In a bowl add wheat flour, yeast and sugar. Then make a nice dough using water. Then keep it aside for an hour.

2) Then, divide the dough into small lemon size balls after applying little oil.

3) Next, take a portion and spread it a bit using your fingers. Then add urad dal mixture in the centre and close the kachoris by joining all the edges together.

4) Now, Roll the kachori’s into a flat 6 to 7 inches diameter circular shape.

5) Pre-heat the oven at 160 Degree Celsius. Apply oil on the baking tray and place kachoris on it. Bake them until little golden brown colour.

6) Once done, remove them from the oven.
7) Your Kachoris are baked and ready. Serve them hot with chutneys.
